Lochmaben Medical Group
Lochmaben Medical Group is a 5 partner Practice operating within modern premises on Lochmaben High Street. We work to provide high quality, comprehensive, accessible healthcare to the patients of Lochmaben and the surrounding area.
Lochmaben Medical Group operates a telephone triage system for appointment allocation. All GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) appointments are initially by telephone only, with a subsequent face-to-face appointment if warranted. Face-to-face appointments will be allocated during your telephone consultation at a mutually acceptable time. Practice nurse and healthcare support worker/phlebotomy appointments are pre-bookable through our administration team. Online appointment booking is no longer available.
If you wish to book a telephone appointment, please speak to our administration staff who will be happy to assist you. You will be asked the nature and urgency of your problem so that we can best deal with your problem by allocation to the most appropriate clinician in the correct timeframe. There are a number of available routine appointments with named clinicians most days – these are allocated on a first come first served basis. If your preferred clinician is unavailable, then you will be asked to call back the next day they are available or offered a call from an alternative staff member. You may be directed to another member of the extended healthcare team other than a GP or ANP if this is felt to be more appropriate – this includes (but not limited to) our Community Pharmacist, Specialist Opticians, Mental Health Practitioners and First Contact Musculoskeletal Practitioners.
Urgent medical concerns are handled by our duty team that comprises our Advanced Nurse Practitioners and GP trainees, supervised by a senior GP. We are unable to offer call-backs from specific members of staff on an urgent basis.
The Surgery
Extended hours appointments are available for working patients between 08:00 – 09:00 Mon – Fri – these are limited and can be requested through our reception staff.
Routine nurse appointments are available Mon-Thurs 09:00 – 17:00 and Fri 9:00 – 16.00
Phlebotomy clinics run Mon – Wed 09:00 – 11:00, Thurs & Fri 08:00 – 11:00.
Urgent calls and requests are dealt with through our triage system. If you request an urgent appointment, you will be called back by our triage team and an appointment may be allocated. Your issue may be dealt with over the telephone or you may be directed to an appropriate allied health professional.
